From a young age you start hearing myths about what is good and what is not for your body. But how many of these are really true? Are they just made up predictions? Well studies have potentially found the answers, so let's see what is true and what is not.
Hangover
How many times have people woke up with a hangover and tried various different methods to help shift it? Things such as eating bananas or taking aspirin should effectively cure the hangover. But these are probably useless; the only way to really get over a hangover is to increase your fluid intake.
Don't Eat Before You Sleep You Will Put on Weight
The amount of times I have heard this little rumour, it is stated that you should not really eat before you go to bed, because your body is not active to burn off the calories. Well if this was statistically true then I would probably weigh over 20 stones as I have a snack every night.
Don't Give Kids Too Much Sugar
Another tale that parents love to use
to stop there kids having chocolate and sweets for the whole of the day. Giving a kid chocolate or sweets has not been proven to make a child more or less hyperactive. People who do notice a difference when giving their kids chocolate is probably due down to the fact that the kids are probably excited for eating chocolate, not because the chocolates or sweet ingredients are actually triggering hyperactivity.
Good Things Come to Those That Wait
Well I would not say this is true in any aspect, you have to earn your place in life and work hard for it. No one gets something for doing nothing. If this was true then every single person would probably end up not working and just waiting for good things to come to them.
Myths are quite interesting in every aspect and there are a lot of people who take them very seriously. Myths are what make family traditions and bonds. But a lot of people can become very obsessive with myths; therefore they should always be taken with a pinch of salt before things get out of hand. I have seen people get drunk and then eat a dozen bananas as they feel it will help them. Some people strictly do not eat after a certain time even though they are hungry. Remember myths are myths.
